This collaborative installation brings together Shinkokyu, a breathing device by Kensho Miyoshi, and Breathing Rests, newly created bases by Sho Ota, to render breath visible through light, sound, and form. Drawing on the Buteyko breathing method, Shinkokyu presents varied rhythms of calm, focus, and depth, expressed through motion, shifts in light temperature, music composed by Ryo Konishi, and form design by Yoshiki Matsuyama. The device evokes a living presence, gently guiding audiences into new states of awareness. In dialogue with this, Ota’s Breathing Rests transform the intangible qualities of breath into sculptural form, employing variations of material, colour, and silhouette. Exhibited together, the two works unfold as a landscape—a composition of breathing—shaping the space through their interplay. The installation also coincides with the official release of Shinkokyu this winter, extending beyond concept to embodiment and practice.
