In response to the fragility of our democracy, designers Claire Renard and Jean-Sébastien Blanc, co-founders of Studio 5.5, are presenting a monumental installation at Paris Design Week 2025. It is a civic hemicycle made up of 577 unique chairs created from reused chairs, in partnership with Leboncoin, a second-hand sales website. The event is being held in the vast courtyard of the National Archives Museum, where the 1789 Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen (adopted by the National Constituent Assembly at the beginning of the French Revolution) is kept. Some of these chairs will also be on display at DESIGNART TOKYO 2025.
