les trois collection
"Les trois" is French meaning "three" in Japanese. Based on the concept of "environmentally and human-friendly style" that leads to water and energy reduction as well as reducing the burden on users, the collection started in 2023 with three types: large plates, medium plates, and bowls. The design is created by architect Kengo Kuma, expressing "sharp softness." The appearance, with its thin rising plate edges and surface texture reminiscent of kimono "shibo," evokes a sense of "wa" (Japanese harmony) while possessing a universal aesthetic beauty that resonates worldwide. The material uses a new composite called "TRANSWOOD®" consisting of 50% domestic cedar thinning wood and 50% biomass resin "Prasus®" manufactured from waste cooking oil and other materials. With a color tone reminiscent of black lacquer and a unique “one-of-a-kind” wood expression that reflects Japanese aesthetic sensibilities, les trois collection offers tableware designed for the next-generation dining table. These “circular tableware” can be reused in new forms at the next stage, embodying both beauty and sustainability.
