Keiji Ito (1935– ) has worked freely across genres, unbound by medium or material, creating with ceramics, oil painting, charcoal, installation, collage, and more. After studying oil painting at Musashino Art School (now Musashino Art University), he joined the Gifu Prefectural Ceramic Research Institute. There he encountered Sakuzo Hineno, a ceramic designer and leader of the craft movement, which led him to begin making ceramics himself. Ito then entered fully into the field of ceramics, expanding his practice with freedom and lightness into sculptural forms and objects, incorporating diverse media along the way.
This exhibition will be held simultaneously across Tomio Koyama Gallery’s Roppongi and Kyobashi spaces, as well as at Kakiden Gallery.
