TITLE | Bird Architecture for Humans
The trees that starlings living in Hachioji had used as their roosts were cut down for human convenience. This event symbolizes how a human centered urban environment has continuously placed other forms of life secondary. This work critically engages with that reality while exploring how humans and birds might coexist. It proposes a new relationship that respects each domain by structurally addressing points of conflict such as noise and droppings.
The structure also functions as a resting place for people.
Taking the felled tree as a starting point, the project presents a device that questions the unconscious anthropocentrism embedded in the city.
