Designed by the acclaimed Swedish architecture studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, in collaboration with Sweden’s legendary glassworks Orrefors, this unique object pushes the very limits of glass craftsmanship.
Geometrical, pure, and monumental, the vase redefines what such an object can be. Measuring 60 cm in diameter, it is heavy yet seemingly weightless — resting firmly while appearing to float. As described by its creators:
“Dark, black, yet transparent enough to glimpse within — The Black Hole Vase connects the history of human cultural evolution with the spirit of future discovery.”
This story bridges a century of Swedish innovation. In 1925, Orrefors achieved its international breakthrough at the Paris World Expo. One hundred years later, at Expo Osaka, the same values continue to resonate: innovation, functionality, craftsmanship, timeless aesthetics, and sustainable quality.
