Unseen Objects is a collection from the collaboration between we+ and Heiwa Gokin, a foundry in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. It reinterprets the tools, fixtures, textures, and incidental forms from the casting process—elements often overlooked. By turning the essence of advanced casting techniques into art, it reveals the beauty of casting culture while redefining its value. Takaoka has been Japan's center for copperware casting for over 400 years. Founded in 1906, Heiwa Gokin has produced everything from monumental bronze statues to intricate lost-wax works, built on refined skill and artistry. For this project, we+ visited the foundry repeatedly, studying its processes and focusing on the overlooked beauty found in daily production. Alongside the vase collection shown at MATTER and SHAPE (Paris) and Milan Design Week (Milan) in 2025, the exhibition will debut a new furniture piece.
